In the ten years that the collective “fragments of an empire” have played together, they never fully turned away from the genres progressive and post-rock but definitely expanded its boundaries and gave it a contemporary twist. Mixing new music, drone, jazz, and folk elements together, rhythmic architectures and deep harmonies emerge, undergoing examination. An entanglement of improvisational and dissonant sound structures come up against furious guitars, melodious violins and flute, as well as filigree piano, creating a frame in which layers of rhythm unfold.
The band’s records standout due to their adept production and sounding depths, therefore providing a persuasive counterpoint to the commercialized musical landscape. The new, and by now, fourth album “exil” will be released on PUMKINS Records on CD and Vinyl, with a live release here at KM–
