In a guided tour through the exhibition “fuels ’n’ frumps“ the curator Sandro Droschl leads through Maja Vukoje’s oeuvre of painting. Besides the thematic focus on post-colonialism and gender the analytical approach to the subject of representation in painting will be discussed. The artist’s occupation with the portrayal of body and object and its materiality is present throughout the exhibition and will be reviewed in respect of its art historical and technical significance.
Maja Vukoje studied painting at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna (Maria Lassnig and Christian Ludwig Attersee). She has been awardes many prizes for her work: outstanding artist award, BKA Vienna (2015), Österreichischer Grafikwettbewerb, Preis des Landes Burgenland (2005), Georg-Eisler-Preis der Bank Austria Creditanstalt, Vienna (2004), Award for young European painting, Premio del Golfo, La Spezia (2000).
