In a conversation with Christian Egger, the Steiermark-based pair of artists Ingrid and Oswald Wiener provide information about the creation of their film "Weben" (Weaving, 2015), which is featured in the exhibition. Afterward Ingrid Wiener will discuss her textile practice in general, as well as the process of conceiving and making woven works, using her text-processing tapestries, which are made with the Gobelin technique, as an example. In addition, she will more closely explain the inherent metaphorical potential of weaving.
Ingrid Wiener was born in Vienna in 1942 and studied textile design there. The literary figure and cyberneticist Oswald Wiener was also born in Vienna, in 1935, where he studied music, African studies, and law. After many years in Canada, Oswald and Ingrid Wiener now live and work in Kapfenstein, in southeastern Steiermark.
