Susanna Gartmayer: aouie
5 aspects for bass clarinet and space
Susanna Gartmayer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. For many years now she has been engaged in improvisation, composition, and the sound possibilities that bass clarinets offer. She is interested in abstract sound-landscapes but equally in complex rhythmic patterns or energetic free jazz. Susanna Gartmayer is playing in experimetal rock bands (broken.heart.collector, möström), various ensembles for improvised and organized music, and also in The Vegetable Orchestra.
"aouie" is her first solo program that refers to different states of being as well as to room acoustics.
The artist Doris Piwonka talks with curator Christian Egger about the exhibition and about debates on contemporary painting considering current interpretations of her aesthetic and visual energies.
