Jeremy Glogan in conversation with Christian Egger about his artistic practice, his relation to the city of Graz and his "double life" as musician of the band VICTIM, and the significant differences of visual arts and music when it comes to their respective representation- and form repertoire or socio-economic constitution.
Jeremy Glogan is an artist from London. No stranger to Austria, his father was born in Vienna. He exhibited four times with Galerie Bleich-Rossi: “Jewels in Art,” with Merlin Carpenter, Josephine Pryde and Sarah Staton (2001) and “When in Doubt Blame the Victim” with Merlin Carpenter (2003), both in Graz; “Rudolf?" (2005) and “The Painting I Did Before The Exhibition” (2008), both in Vienna. Between 1997 and 2005 Glogan organized a project space called “The Top Room” originally at his home in London facilitating projects by, amongst others, Mel Bochner, Michael Krebber and Nils Norman. Recent exhibitions include “Ephemeral Self - Finite Projections,” curated by Robert Gruber, Galerie NTK Prague (2013); “They May Now Know Everything But We Will Win,” Oechsner Galerie Nuremberg (2013); “selfie,” Ohio Glasgow (2014); “Passive Acceptance of Increasing Oppression,” Limazulu London (2014); “The Visit” (a performance with Jennifer Glogan), Watch It Gallery London (2015).
He comes to Graz in November both to show paintings in an exhibition at gottrekorder and to take part in a concert at Forum Stadtpark with the bands “Victim,” “[[[Altar:Thron]]],” “BeAuTiEs Of ThE nIgHt” and Imants Daksis (LVA).
