The art project “Between Skylla and Charybdis” aims to heighten awareness of the social relevance of art monuments, and to develop new strategies for responsible handling methods. By example of the Albrecher-Leskoschek House designed by Herbert Eicholzer that harbors a rare, anti-National Socialist artwork by Axl Leskoschek, the discussion will focus on transformative processes in contemporary architecture. Both the architectural model of the Albrecher-Leskoschek House, a collaboration between the Technischen Universität and the Karl-Franzens-Universität, Graz, as well as “Ein Quartett in 12 Familien“ which alludes to Axl Leskoschek’ mural “Allegorie der Freunde” will be presented. Linking these contemporary, artistic strategies with theoretical subject matter allows for the emergence of new perspectives.
