A portrait of global club culture, seen through the story of the character DJ Säkerhetskontroll (DJ Security-Check) is presented. Starting from a failed performance, we follow him on a journey witnessing the loss of a laptop in Amsterdam, mutated copyright warnings, a bevel-and-embossed history of warehouse parties, and hacked music video clips with a swedish soundtrack.
Ilja Karilampi utilizes various media such as video, images, and installation. His work brings together different levels of narration, and a series of elements that refer to contemporary pop culture: likelihood of fiction, urban legends, music, and images from movies.
