The Amsterdam-based Jan Robert Leegte (*1973) is a Dutch media-artist who currently attends the "artist in residence" programme of the Graz-based Kunstverein Medienturm (cooperation: MQ Vienna). The video "untitled (ornaments)" is a work in progress involving research on the properties of the sculptural experience. In this work, a series of "screen-installations" will combine computer-generated material with actual footage, resulting in a humble introspective of the physical urban world as we know it. This video will be interacting with the, in Vienna, not unknown topic of "ornamentality", circling around the relationship between ornaments, sgraffito and the Graphical User Interface.

Since June 2004, the series Medienturm SHOWS runs at the Ovalhalle of the Quartier 21 / MQ Wien on Sundays. Experimental artist's videos are on show, discussing the manifold relation of image and sound in the field of contemporary media/art. In the frame of openings, audio-visual live-acts and comprehensive statements of invited media theorists are presented. In addition, each work is published in a limited DVD-edition.
